The study found that CEO smile intensity is positively linked to company profit, especially dominant smiles. This association held true regardless of the company's location or CEO's gender. The research suggests that a leader’s smile intensity can influence corporate performance.
AI is revolutionizing drug discovery by helping researchers identify promising molecules from billions of options. However, despite AI, assessing the costs and risks of synthesizing these molecules remains complex. This complexity contributes to the lengthy development times and high prices of new medicines.

Scientists at the University of Nottingham have created a 3D printed vacuum system to detect dark matter by using ultra-cold lithium atoms. This research, published in Physical Review D, aims to help understand the universe's dark matter and dark energy, which make up 95% of its content.
China aims to build a $5-billion particle collider within three years to study the Higgs boson in detail, potentially starting construction in 2027 if the project is approved. The 100-kilometer Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC) would be cheaper than Europe’s proposed $17-billion Future Circular Collider and could begin construction in the 2030s if it also gains approval.
MRI is vital for diagnosing many conditions, but its high cost limits access in low-income and rural areas. OECD countries show significant disparities in MRI availability. To address this, University of Hong Kong researchers are developing an affordable, ultralow-field MRI scanner that works with a standard power outlet and needs no special shielding.

Metagenomic sequencing of microplastics from the Beilun River watershed identified 28,732 bacterial species, primarily from the phyla Proteobacteria, Acidobacteria, Actinobacteria, and Chloroflexi. Species richness and evenness were consistent across sites and microplastic types. A core community of 25,883 species made up 78.4% of the total, with most species shared between PE and PP microplastics.
Scientists filmed a deep-sea squid cradling about 40 unusually large eggs off Mexico's coast. The discovery sheds light on squid reproduction in deep, dark, and oxygen-limited environments. Steven Haddock of MBARI emphasized the significance of this find. The research was published in Ecology.

NASA's Perseverance rover, tracing the south side of Neretva Vallis since January, aimed for Bright Angel, named for light-toned outcrops possibly revealing ancient rocks. Despite encountering unforeseen boulders, the rover successfully rerouted through a dune field and river channel, achieving its landing at Bright Angel.
NASA has awarded Vertex Aerospace, LLC a contract valued at up to $265.2 million to support operations at the Sonny Carter Training Facility in Houston. Vertex Aerospace will provide technical and administrative services to maintain systems at the Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory, essential for astronaut training.
